QCF Level 1
Learners will achieve a unit QCF Certificate or a full level 1 QCF Certificate that is suitable for their needs and relevant to their stage of learning. Six key tasks are embedded into the qualification, which ensures that learners undertake actual skill development as part of the programme.
This qualification is aimed at workers entering the cleaning sector for the first time or sector workers/learners with no formal qualifications. It will provide learners with basic skills, which will help them in their daily work and engage them in a pathway of learning to Further Education and skills. The qualification is designed to allow flexibility for the learner whilst maintaining the qualification at an achievable level for the cleaning industry skills required.
To achieve a full Level 1 Certificate in Cleaning, you must complete 9 units, this includes one optional unit.
Mandatory Units Unit No’s
- Unit 01: Work in the cleaning industry
- Unit 02: Health and safety and hygiene in the workplace
- Unit 03: Develop personal skills
- Unit 06: Contribute to effective customer care
- Unit 07: Check prepare and clean general work areas
- Unit 08: Check and clean washrooms and toilet facilities
- Unit 09: Remove and safety dispose of waste
- Unit 10: Post-cleaning checks and reinstatement of work area

- Unit 04: Work individually in the cleaning industry
- Unit 05: Work in a team
COPC Supporting Skills for the Level 1 Certificate in Cleaning
- Suction Cleaning
- Damp Dusting
- Single Solution Mopping
- Refuse Collection & Floor Sweeping
- Cleaning Toilets, Urinals etc
- Wall Washing
